Where we are
Computers have progressed from our desks, to our pockets, to our wrist, to interacting with our sensory organs. They’ve redefined how we move and communicate and now they give us superhuman access to information about ourselves and the world around us.
Where we’re going
Robots and computers linked to our brains will provide physical, as well as mental enhancements. Technology first available to people with debilitating conditions will in time lend superpowers to average citizens. A wheelchair user could control their mobility with their mind, while someone else could activate their contact lenses to zoom.
How to think about it
Progress will be slow and incremental so resist cyborg-fear and embrace the evolution. Consider how to solve challenging physical and mental tasks and how both could be integrated to develop holistic solutions.
